Namecheap: A Good Company or a Scam?

Namecheap is an online services provider in the domain name industry, offering domain name registrations and renewals as well as web hosting and SSL certificates. They started in 2000 under the name Buydomains and later changed their name to Namecheap in 2007, when they began offering domain transfers. Their headquarters are located in Los Angeles, California. This company has many positive reviews and testimonials, but it also has some negative feedback as well; however, most people agree that it is a great company to work with because of its low pricing and high-quality products and services.

What is Namecheap

Namecheap is an internet domain registrar and web hosting company that offers many of its services for free. The company has been around since 2000 and has millions of domains under management. But what is Namecheap known for? Is it worth using their services as your domain registrar and/or web host? Or are they just another cheap website hosting service provider—with terrible customer support and hidden fees—who’s only looking to make money from naive customers?.

To answer that question, we’ll start by taking a look at Namecheap’s pricing. Namecheap is known for being cheap. Their basic web hosting plans start at $8.88 per month, which comes with features like unlimited domains and email accounts.

It’s important to note that Namecheap is more than just web hosting. It’s also an internet domain registrar, meaning that you can register your own domain name with them for only $9.88 per year.

Pros and Cons of Using Namecheap

First off, Namecheap offers competitive prices and is one of the cheapest registrars on our list. The company has won a number of awards for its service and customer support. However, there are some drawbacks to using Namecheap. In 2015, hackers breached Namecheap’s system and stole thousands of domain names. So far, it appears that no information such as credit card numbers were stolen as part of that breach.

Also, Namecheap doesn’t offer SSL certificates with its hosting plans. If you want an SSL certificate with your hosting plan, you have to purchase it separately from another provider. You can find out more about SSL certificates in our post What Is an SSL Certificate and Why Do I Need One?.

In addition, Namecheap doesn’t offer hosting services for WordPress. If you want to host a WordPress site with Namecheap, you have to use their Domain Manager to change your DNS entries to point at another provider.

Money Back Guarantee

Want to know if Namecheap is legit? Well, here’s how you find out. If you order something from Namecheap, and you aren’t satisfied with it, you can contact them for a refund. So long as your request is made within 45 days of purchase and your order has not exceeded its 60-day money back guarantee period (because it was customized, for example), then Namecheap will give you your money back no questions asked.

While Namecheap has some great aspects, they aren’t perfect. They don’t have live chat support, and their prices are a little higher than average, although we couldn’t find any complaints about them being unreasonably expensive. On top of that, they have been known to deliver slow speed when it comes to resolving issues with your domains and hosting platform.

While it may not be perfect, Namecheap is still better than some other domain registrars. If you’re looking for hosting to match your website name, Namecheap is definitely worth considering. You’ll love their customer service and money back guarantee if you aren’t satisfied with them. If nothing else, use Namecheap for domains and consider other companies for your hosting.

Domain Validity and Transfer Processes

When you choose to buy a domain name, you don’t want to run into issues down the road. Namecheap is highly reputable and has multiple processes in place to make sure that domain names are transferred smoothly from one owner to another. You can visit their website for more information about how their process works. They also have an online community where users can share advice and ask questions related to domains. If you’re unsure about any processes, Namecheap provides excellent customer service.

The company has also made it possible to transfer domains from one registrar to another easily. Once you decide to move your domain name, you’ll be able to get started right away. You won’t have to wait long for domain transfers either, as Namecheap offers quick turnaround times. If anything goes wrong during a transfer, you can contact their customer service team and they will help you with the process.

Domain Renewal Processes

If you have purchased a domain name from Namecheap, you may have noticed that sometimes when you attempt to renew your domain name, it does not renew. The reason for that is because Namecheap does not own all of their own domains and it is difficult to update records for other companies. So, if your domain was purchased by Namecheap but has been renewed through another company’s system (like GoDaddy), it may need to be updated before they can process your renewal.

If your domain has been purchased through another company, you’ll need to update that information with Namecheap. This can be done by following their instructions here. If your domain was purchased through Namecheap and it is not updating automatically, you may need to contact them directly at 1-888-401-3074. One of their agents will be able to help you get your domain up and running again as quickly as possible.

If your domain is not renewing, contact Namecheap’s customer service at 1-888-401-3074. They will be able to help you get things back up and running as quickly as possible.

Namecheap is not only one of my favorite domain hosting providers, but it’s also one of my favorite online companies. If you’re still on the fence about Namecheap after reading through some of these reviews and testimonials, then I recommend that you contact them via live chat to talk with one of their customer service representatives about your questions.
